You’re outta here… Today, U.S. District Judge Richard Leon’s threw out the conspiracy case against six defendants charged with the bribery of the defense minister of Gabon. During the case, the U.S. Justice Department failed in their efforts to introduce sufficient evidence that FBI agents and a defense industry cooperator successfully orchestrated a sting to expose multiple violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Boy, I hope this isn’t spreading… You will recall that we reported last week on Manhattan U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff giving the SEC grief over its proposed settlement with Citigroup. Now it turns out that a federal judge in Milwaukee is asking similar questions about the agency’s deal with headphone maker Koss Corp. and its chief executive. [Wall Street Journal]
